My first craft show was a success! What a cool place Asbury Park, NJ has become. The last time I had been there was about 10 years earlier while attending a Warped Tour. What a difference! The shops, restaurants and public artwork was all great! The people were so nice and truly interested in talking with the makers. Art Star did a fantastic job organizing the entire event. A big THANK YOU to them! My fellow vendors were all so supportive and gave me some great advise for the future.
But don't get me wrong, it was a TON of work. Like I had to change my clothes from all the sweat, type of work! And that was only by 10am. The next time you go to an outdoor market or art/craft show, please make sure to remind yourself of all the hard work that goes into it. The schlepping of everything you see across, wet, goose poop sprinkled grass. The weather elements that you have to constantly deal with and continuously alter your space to accommodate. And so much more that I won't get into. All while putting a smile on your face and energy in your voice to meet and greet shoppers.
My experience was made even more pleasant by sharing a booth with Devin from Safron Creations. She makes earrings, bracelets and necklaces using vintage tins that she finds online or at flea markets. Devin's pieces are so nice. Check her stuff out here at www.saffron-creations.com. She has been doing this for awhile and her calm, poised demeanor helped me through the weekend. So, another BIG THANKS to her!
And last but not least... a huge THANK YOU to my Mother for watching my daughter and to my husband for supporting me 100% as always. You guys are the best!
I'm glad the ice is broken and I'm ready to move onto the next show. I will be at The Makers Fest in Manahawkin, NJ on Sept 17th. Much more info on this show will be posted in the coming weeks. Here is the link www.themakersfest.com.
